FaToS really showed off as he romped away with victory at Brno, finishing over 30 seconds ahead of everyone else and further increasing his lead at the top of the championship.

During qualifying FaToS was able to post a time of 01:47.808, which was over a second faster than Elite Toker in 2nd. FaToS’ fellow countryman, SebDek82, was able to post the third fastest time in qualifying and started alongside Mapster1989 who was racing in his maiden F3000 race. Adam Drane and BIG RADFORD rounded up the grid.

Mapster1989 made a horrific start and made best use of the anti-stall, which the cars have fitted as standard, as he failed to get away from the line cleanly. He wasn’t last for long as BIG RADFORD succumbed to the heavy bumps on the track and took a spin allowing Mapster1989 to take 5th place. Up ahead SebDek82 managed to find a way past Elite Toker as they tussled for much of the race. FaToS was able to capitalize on this and further increase his lead ahead of the field.

Adam Drane could really feel the pressure as Mapster1989 started to gain on him. This added pressure caused Adam to make a mistake and lose control of the car on the exit of turn one which allowed Mapster1989 to re-gain his grid position of 4th. Adam Drane was the first to pit and he proceeded to only take on a new set of tires (a very risky move) and was followed on the next lap by Mapster1989, the first to take on a full tank of fuel. Adam Drane later paid for this risky pit strategy and had to pit again shortly after to take on fuel costing him valuable seconds and falling into the grasps of BIG RADFORD who had managed to tame the F3000.

Up ahead Elite Toker started experiancing electronic problems which cost him a lot of time allowing Mapster1989 to close the gap. Elite proceeded to spin and this allowed Mapster1989 to pass him and head for a podium finish on his debut. Elite Toker had to retire 2 laps from the end due to this problem.

With only 1 lap to go the action still wasn’t over. BIG RADFORD had continually managed to set faster lap times than Adam and had considerably closed the gap. Adam, with 3 corners to go, spun out and allowed BIG RADFORD to take 4th place.

FaTos has increased his lead in the championship to 10 points over SebDek82. Elite Toker slips to 3rd after his DNF allowing SebDek82 to take 2nd.

To be honest Road America is one of my favourite tracks and I was looking forward to this race more than any other on the calendar. Im just pleased that I have taken maximum points which has put me on on the top of the championship. “I’m annoyed. What a freak accident and something that will has never happened before. One of the securing mechanisms on the steering wheel had come loose which made the wheel very unstable. It was ok when you was driving in a straight line but as soon as you gave any steering input the wheel would come loose. I was having to avoid the apex of the corner as I was worried that the wheel may shake itself off. I’m not happy but there’s nothing I can do about it.” BIG RADFORD, Scuderia Bigazzi

FaToS has taken the lead in the F3000 Championship after a flawless display at Road America, the longest track on the calendar spanning over 4 miles per lap. FaToS dominated proceedings from the start and you could tell that he likes this track after he produced a sterling display of driver skill and composure.

However, the race didn’t go to plan for many drivers and due to lag from one of the car’s the race had to be restarted under the safety car. Not ideal for any of the drivers. After the restart BIG RADFORD encountered a mechanical problem with his steering wheel and was complaining of it being ‘very loose’. He later span out and finished the race in 5th. SebDek82 made it an all dutch top 2 spots on the podium when he took 2nd place. Those points enabled him to close the gap up on Elite Toker but he has now fell 6 points behind FaToS. Elite Toker came home in 3rd but will be disappointed to lose ground on FaToS.

“I thoroughly enjoyed it today. I was nervous stood in the paddock before the race and to tell you the truth I was nervous on the first lap but I soon got into it and I was able to get into a groove. The end of the race came too soon for me and I wanted to stay out there for longer. Roll on Event 2.” Evolocia, Mansfield Massive

To say that the racing was close would be an understatement. Numerous drivers commented on how there were a matter of feet between all of the cars for the majority of the race. But it was Fra Leasy who took the race by the scruff of the neck and came away from Silverstone with a race win, followed up by a 2nd aswell as 2 bonus points leaving him sitting at the top of the championship table, 7 points clear.

The first event of the European Clio Cup calendar saw an 18 strong grid, one of the WLR’s largest of its existance. During qualifying it was Fra Leasy who took the pole position by a mere 0.045 seconds ahead of the Welshman, Red Eyed Demom. Qualifying was really close and the top 13 drivers were seperated by less than a second which is a testimant to the skill of the drivers.

Race one saw Red Eyed Demon take the win away from Fra Leasy despite starting behind him on the grid. Fastest lap went to Glimmer UK who finished in 3rd and was one of two drivers to post a 1 minute lap time with a 01:00.775 beating Red Eyed Demon by 0.002 seconds. Further down the field saw humandanny suffer damage early on. This severely effected his performance and did well to finish the race. WhytedXL, who has masses of experiance from the Clio World Tour, suffered in qualifying and just missed out on an A lobby race thus severely affecting his end of race points.

Fra Leasy redeemed himself in Race 2 by taking the win coming infront of RayRacer1, one of the most experianced drivers in the WLR. Race 2 saw a lot of bumping and bargind and BIG RADFORD suffered heavily from this. BIG RADFORD saw himself spun around a few times and he couldn’t make up the time lost and finished in a respectable 5th place.

Fra Leasy sees himself on top of the championship going into event 2, closely followed by Red Eyed Demon. We then see a 15 pont gap back down to RayRacer followed by ranger dabomb and Glimmer UK.

After the first event we can safely say that these cars are equally matched. Some could say that they are too matched but this all adds to the spectacle of the ECC Racing.

Going into the first race of the European Clio Cup we will see 9 differant cars and 16  drivers lined up on the grid.

One of those teams will be T-Mobile Motorsport with xcoopz21x and AZT Jammy at the wheel of the 2 cars. “I am very happy to be able to field a full strength team in the European Clio Cup. This is just the start of the T-Mobile Motorsport team but we are looking to expand and that will be achieved by success.” Said team boss, Mapster1989. AZT Jammy was signed yesterday and he will be making his return to The WLR after a long absence. “I’m looking forward to my return immensely. These cars are great fun and FWD is my forte. Hopefully I can show this and come away with a good result tomorrow.”

Another team which will be looked upon will be Northern Racing who are fielding a Northern Junior team in the ECC this season. Northern Racing have managed to sign the young starlet Raynard 06 and the more experianced driver of Fra Leasy who is nicknamed ‘The Viking’. Team boss, TenEightyOne, is optimistic about the team’s chances and he had this to say when interviewed earlier this week. “I have the belief in my team, as all team managers should, that they will do well. We have got the experiance of many season’s in the Clio World Tour and hopefully we can bring that to this season’s car and give us the edge over the other competitors.”

 Hopefully this season will be a cracker and will be one of the most popular yet. Hold on to your seatbelts (and doorpanels). This one’s going to be good.

It seems as if each week we attract even more new and fast drivers. I can’t let my guard down at all and rest assured ill be racing my hardest right up till the end.” Elite Toker, SEAT Sport

“We’ve let Elite increase the gap which is a bit disappointing but none the less we will be trying our best to take the title from him. 20 points is a lot to catch up but it’s not impossible. Monza is a tricky track with many chicanes so I expect to see the odd drive through penalty. We just have to avoid them.” mikadri, Golden Motors Team.

“Racing is very frustrating. In practice and testing I have been putting in good lap times and I was pleased when I stook it on the front row of the grid but the car just doesnt have the race pace like the SEAT’s or the Honda’s.” Adam Drane, Chevrolet Sport.

Elite Toker finished the day a very happy man as he drove his SEAT Leon onto the podium in both races finishing 1st and 3rd which meant that he increased the gap at the top to 18 points.

This was a day which was very eventful for the stewards with the first corner being problematic to say the least and drive through penalties were handed out accordingly. Much to the surprise of the crowd it was the Honda Accord of Speeddmon 91 who took pole position with a time of 01:22.248 which was a mere 0.2 seconds faster than Adam Drane in his Chevrolet Lacetti. The first two rows of the grid were seperated by less than 0.4 seconds which made for very close racing indeed. BIG RADFORD failed to make qualifying as a mechanical failure meant that he would start from the back of the grid in 9th place.

Going into the first race it was inexperianced Speeddmon 91 who led the field away but it didn’t take long before Elite Toker made his way through the pack resulting in his 3rd win of the season. Speeddmon would have been pleased with his first race display after finishing in 3rd place. He has shown in both qualifying and race 1 that the driver has great raw talent and would be one to watch out for in the coming weeks. It was a tough race for WhytedXL which wasn’t made any easier when he was given a drive through penalty in race 1. This ended with WhytedXL finishing back in 9th place after he was in a promising position.

In race 2 it was the turn of the two dane’s to steal the show and again it was mikadri who took the race win after having a great duel with fellow countryman Racing DK. The race win moves mikadri up to fourth only 20 points behind Elite Toker but it’s not enough to take 2nd as that place is occupied by Racing DK with 35 points. Adam Drane had a torrid time in race 2 as lovenhardt careered across the track which resulted in Adam taking evasive action. This then resulted in Adam losing many places moving him down to last but managed to claw his way back up, finishing in 5th place.

Curitiba was the biggest turn out with 9 drivers signed up and racing with relatively no problems. Next week it’s the trip to Monza, Italy and the fastest track on the calendar. See  you there!

As the drivers head over to Curitiba, Brazil for Rounds 5 and 6 of the World Touring Cars the question on everyones lips is “Will Elite be able to hold off the charge from the ‘Danes’?”

Elite Toker dominated event 1 but has soon been pegged back by the two new drivers, Racing DK and mikadri who have both got their maiden victories under their belt. We caught up with mikadri earlier on in the week. “It was great to get my first win but now we must look at winning in Brazil. I try to take each race at a time and hopefully come the last race of the season I will be in a position to take the title but we have another 2 race meets yet.”

Event 3 has seen the largest sign up yet with 9 drivers registering for the race. Amongst them are 2 new drivers avfcjohnboy and speeddmon 91. avfcjohnboy, who has signed a deal with SEAT Sport Italia, will be looking for a solid result in his first race on ‘The WLR’. As he is unproven we are yet to see what he is like out on track. The other new driver on the scene is speeddmon 91, who has been snapped up by Golden Motors team, will partner mikadri in the Honda Accord Euro-R. This could prove vital in the Team Title race as now both SEAT Sport and Golden Motors Team have 2 drivers as GMT try to reduce the 24 point deficit.

Yesterday saw H4H Motorsport register a team for the European Clio Cup. H4H Motorsport have a vast amount of experiance as a racing team having entered many competitions such as the Clio World Tour and the Touring Trophy. Hopefully the team will take this forward into the Euro Clio Cup.
H4H Motorsport will be on the upper hand compared to most teams as they will be able to transfer most of the setups from the older brother car in the Clio World Tour. Team boss and diver #1, said this, “We are delighted to have the funding available to be able to enter a team In the ECC. We have shown in the CWT that we are a competant team, we just need to follow that through”.
Currently the team is only running one car but is already on the lookout for a 2nd driver ahead of the season opener this weekend. “We have been looking at various options that are available to us. Many drivers have expressed interest in the vacant position but we are taking our time over this decision so that we make the correct choice.”
